Epicure Cafe is an eatery and music lounge in Fairfax. They have nightly events ranging from local bands, comedy and music open mics, and trivia nights. My husband and I went on a Friday night for a local Jazz band. The food
is (delicious, and) Mediterranean inspired, and they have a range of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. They offer a selection of fun pizzas
, and have a selection of beer and wines
available. I have seen the local bands Basswood
and the RDJ Project Quartet, based out of DC and Manassas. The sound from the bands fill the space – literally! – and it can be loud. Events start around 8:00 pm.
There is space for a stroller near a table, but call and ask for high chair availability. The restrooms do not have changing tables and are small. There is not a children’s menu. This doesn’t strike me as an overtly child-unfriendly restaurant, just a restaurant not really equipped to deal with the possibility of children visiting and has chosen not to offer clear space and services for parents with children.
We had a great time (without the babe!) and it was a very fun place for an evening out. Highly recommend if you have a sitter for an evening and want to do something a little different without going into DC or Arlington.
Call ahead for ticketing and cover charge information for shows.

Sara worked as an art educator in the Fairfax County Public Schools. She is from Nebraska and went to college in Minnesota, where she met her husband, and has one daughter, born December 2013. She loves to draw, paint, knit scarves, and is learning to quilt. She watches too much TV, loves wine, trashy historical romance books, space operas, and plays World of Warcraft. Her local favorite is Meadowlark Gardens, which can be a hassle to get to visit with a babe but is always worth the drive. Her favorite time to create is when the house is quiet.
