Flight Trampoline Park

Toddler Flight Trampoline Park
Flight Trampoline Park in Springfield, VA is fun. I definitely didn’t expect how much fun it would be FOR ME. My 16 month old daughter isn’t quite strong enough to jump, but we have a great time anyway. She likes to watch the (many) toddlers play and jump, she loves the dodgeballs, she likes bouncing, and I love it because I feel like I can get a bit of a workout in while she explores a new space.

Epicure Cafe

Epicure Cafe
Epicure Cafe is an eatery and music lounge in Fairfax. They have nightly events ranging from local bands, comedy and music open mics, and trivia nights. My husband and I went on a Friday night for a local Jazz band. The food is (delicious, and) Mediterranean inspired, and they have a range of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. They offer a selection of fun pizzas, and have a selection of beer and wines available. I have seen the local bands Basswood and the RDJ Project Quartet, based out of DC and Manassas. The sound from the bands fill the space – literally! – and it can be loud. Events start around 8:00 pm.

neighborhood walking

Toddler Neighborhood Walk
My daughter and I go out walking every day. We usually walk up the block, a few times, and then chase the squirrels and any neighborhood dogs. We have met so many neighbors with the beautiful weather, and my babe’s quick smile is a great way to get our neighbors to practice waving. When she brings me her shoes, we gear up and head outdoors. She loves to carry sticks and twigs, and the house rule of “no sticks inside the house” is quickly becoming the least favorite rule we have.

Burke Lake Park

Burke Lake Park
Burke Lake Park is a family-fun gem in the southern part of Fairfax county. The fitness trail is accessible throughout the park, but I personally set out from either the marina or from the train/carousel area. From the train/carousal, I do cut across the frisbee golf course, which probably isn’t a great idea if the course is busy. I’ve survived so far!

2015 NoVA Farmers Markets

NoVA Farmers Market

We are so fortunate to live in an area where markets are plentiful during the summer. I visit the Burke market (Saturdays) frequently. The Burke market has bakeries, produce stands, butchers, florists, a salsa vendor, a couple cheese vendors, and last year there was even a while-you-wait ice cream vendor. The Reston market also has had an artisan section with clothes, bags, jewelry, and other assorted items. Please share your favorite part of the market near you in the comments!

Meadowlark Botanical Gardens

Meadowlark Gardens

Northern Virginia area is beautiful in the spring! Meadowlark is a wonderful place for a walk after the long winter. There is a children’s play area down the main path and to the left, with some sand and a few features to play on that overlooks the lake. There are ample pathways and some meadows for kids to run around. (But take care to look for signs and flowerbeds!) The gardens have cherry trees, lakes, shaded and sunny walkways, two gazebos, and a beautiful Korean Bell Garden.
